THE GREAT WALL AT SIMATAI

Yesterday we booked a tour to the Great Wall. We had to be if front of the hotel at 6:30 in the morning. T make it easier we took a cab at 5:30 and had time to spare so CJ had breakfast and I had a cup of tea at McDonalds. We met the rest of the tour group and left at 7:00 It was a 3 hour ride and it rained off and on for the whole trip. Some of the group were getting off in a different location and hiking all the way up.

This is the souvenier shops at the entrance.

Also at the entrance.

We didn't want to hike so we decided to ride the cable car and tram and then walk up. Look at the reflection in the sun glasses.

These are all pictures of the area we walked. Looking up at the steps we were about to take and some are looking down at where we were. This was very hard climbing all these steps. They are uneven and broken. Some steps are only a few inches high and then others are about 2 feet or more high. The only railings are along the steep steps before you get to the wall. It was still a wonderful trip and a site to see.

And...Oh yes...CJ seems to think I have been in China toooooo long!!!

Glad to see that you finally made it to the wall. I bet the actual site is ten times better than the photos. But the photos are still beautiful. Love the picture of you and CJ at the wall. Hope you are having the time of your life.
