Bill and Denise's AWESOME, AMAZING ALASKAN ADVENTURE. Day at Sea

We sailed on August 26, 2018 on the Emerald Princess and had a balcony room on the Lido Deck 15. From the minute we stepped on the ship we never stopped.  There was a fantastic band playing, lots of food and drinks everyone getting geared up to start the journey. We danced and had pizza and ice cream. Explored the ship from top to bottom, checked every little store and restaurant. It was formal night and because we booked a cruise through AAA they gave us a meal at a specialty restaurant, The Crab Shack. We ate crab legs and shrimp.

Bill and Denise's Amazing Awesome Alaskan Adventure First stop Seattle

So a year after signing up for a cruise, making airline and hotel reservations and picking excursions, the day finally came!!!..we are heading to Alaska!!!  We were ready for anything and everything..we packed  bathing suits to winter coats and hiking boots. Left early on Saturday morning for our 6am flight. Got there in plenty of time, checked luggage, went through security..had coffee, tea and a donut and got on our plane and headed  to the runway and the engines shut down.  Pilot comes on the loudspeaker and says..".gee I bet you are all wondering why that happened...Chicago is having bad storms and closed the gates to the airport..we will update you as soon as we hear something". Half hour later "ok, they are going to find us another route". A little later "ok we found a new route...should be leaving soon...oh never mind they still won't let us land"...an hour goes by and "ok we found another route because they know how long we have been sitting here and we can't sit more than 3 hours or we have to go back to the gate"...so 2 and 1/2 hours later we take off.  Get to Chicago and we already knew we missed our connecting flight to Seattle.  They had already made arrangements for us to then fly to Houston and then to Seattle but sent us to the next flight out and we were put on standby with chances that this was someone else's connecting flight that they may have missed. Luckily we got on that plane and landed about 4 hours later that we were originally supposed to.
We got a Taxi to our hotel which was very near the Space Needle and Museum.  Bill's niece Danyiel came and picked us up and took us to Pikes Place Market.  We had dinner at the Athenian Seafood Restaurant.  Bill and Danyiel had Dungeness Crab and I had Salmon. Wonderful dinner, view and company!

This is the first Starbucks and everyone is lined up to go in and yet there is one around the  block that had no line.
